Growth Vouchers Requirements
Are you a small business registered in England? Have you been trading for over one year? Do you have 49 employees or less? Are you independently run? If you answer yes to all of these questions, you may be eligible to submit an application for Growth Vouchers.
During a recent Federation of Small Businesses event, the Prime Minister stated that ‘the success of small businesses is central to the government’s long term economic plan’, and pledged his commitment to help small businesses ‘thrive’.
Growth Voucher Programme
Lord Young, a leading advocate for small businesses, said at the launch of the scheme that “most companies, when they are launching a new product or service, do a lot of research before they enter the market. With Growth Vouchers, the Government is doing just that to work out the value of early stage advice for the growing number of start-up, micro and small businesses”. Taken from The Telegraph 27 January 2014.
The growth voucher scheme is a £30m programme which will enable 20,000 eligible small businesses to receive up to £2,000, to help them access support and professional business advice from specialists in the fields of:-
- finance and cash flow
- recruiting and developing staff
- improving leadership and management skills
- marketing, attracting and keeping customers
- making the most of digital technology
Growth Voucher Evidence
As reported in The Guardian on 3 February, the growth voucher scheme “will produce quantifiable evidence of the effect of government-funded business advice” for the first time. Meaning that the scheme will be monitored throughout with finding reported when the initiative has finished. The growth voucher scheme is only available for the next fifteen months.
