Roisin Sweeney and Andy MacGregor, Face for Business
On Thursday 10th March, Face for Business attended an awards ceremony at the West Tower Hotel in Aughton, as part of the Let’s Talk Apprenticeship Awards. We submitted applications for ‘Advanced Apprentice of the Year’ and ‘SME Apprentice Employer of the Year’ – we were successful in both categories!
Face for Business’ First Apprentice
Our apprentice, Roisin, started her apprenticeship with us in June 2014, and has fastly become an integral part of our team. Her commitment and enthusiasm for her role has enabled FFB to progress with its accounts procedures and processes, for which there are a number of. When Roisin started at FFB the business was just coming up to its first birthday, and there wasn’t really an accounts procedure in place. Roisin, alongside the Managing Director and IT Director, took responsibility for the accounts system and we now have an arrangement which logs, monitors, optimises and automatically sends out invoices to our clients.
Roisin’s has an excellent attitude towards her dual roles fo Apprentice PA and Accountants Assistant, which she does in a calm and able manner. She ensures she dedicates her efforts to the incoming calls, which are core to the success of FFB’s business. Roisin is an integral member of FFB, well respected by her both her peers and management, and she portrays an excellent image of our company. Roisin is currently undertaking the Certificate in Accountancy course, which was her own idea, done in her own time, which benefits both her own development and our business moving forward.
We want to invest in the ‘PA of the future’. We have a specific profile for our ‘Ideal PA’.
Face for Business is looking for its next apprentice – could it be you?
Face for Business provides our Apprentices with the opportunity to develop their life skills, but we are keen to support our Apprentices as they complete their qualifications, be it NVQ’s, BTEC’s or more specialist qualifications – we currently have an Apprentice completing a Certificate in Accounting. We recognized a skill in this area and encouraged the Apprentice to further develop her own skills, benefitting both the Apprentice and the Company in the long run.
Our Apprentices also have the opportunity to work in areas such as sales, social media, and marketing. Knowledge in these areas provide apprentices with an excellent business foundation, which will complement most apprenticeship qualifications. As we answer calls for a number of different lines of business, the Apprentice will gain an understanding of how various businesses work and how important Customer Service is in the business world.
Working at Face for Business will improve Apprentice’s confidence and development as well as gaining a host of fundamental office skills, such as planning and organising and Customer Service. Working with colleagues who have had a myriad of life experiences, who are warm and welcoming, and will also nurture and develop their interpersonal skills.

Apprentice Fair at Carmel College, St Helen’s
During National Apprenticeship Week staff from Face for Business visited Carmel College, St Helen’s as part of an apprenticeship awareness event. We had a stand at the event, and chatted to young people about the advantages of undertaking a apprenticeship. We spoke to a number of students at the event, and hopefully raised awareness of the apprenticeship programme we have here at Face for Business. You can visit Carmel College’s website here.
